The cheapest way to get hot water from a Nuos is to leave it in GREEN mode at 55 °C. That is how we set it up during commissioning. Here is what you will see the first time you switch it on and why we choose those settings.
When you first switch it on
- The display shows INIT: the unit is starting up.
- Then DISCOV appears: the unit is detecting its components. Wait for it to finish without touching anything.
- After that you can set the time, mode and temperature from the panel or the Ariston NET app (here is how to connect the Nuos to wifi).
Technical parameters are protected by a technician code; everything else you can change yourself.

About anti-legionella: this cycle periodically raises the water to a high temperature. In homes with daily use the water in the tank is constantly renewed, so the technician may adjust or switch it off so it does not run at times that bother you. If the house will be empty for several weeks, ask us.
Which mode to choose

Why GREEN: the heat pump uses far less electricity than the element. And the less the element works, the less limescale builds up on it, which matters because limescale is the main cause of breakdowns in Alicante and Murcia. The unit regulates itself so you have hot water almost all the time.
Temperature: at 55 °C a family has plenty of hot water. With the heat pump alone the Nuos Plus S2 reaches up to 60 °C, according to Ariston’s data sheet; above that the element has to kick in and consumption rises.
